Kobe or LeBron

This has been the question for the last couple of seasons, I will tackle this quandary in this post. Kobe is on the verge of his 6th ring while LeBron is trying to get his first. LeBron has already won a couple of MVP trophies and has continued to tantalize us with his breathtaking forays to the basket. Kobe is known as the game's premier "Closer," there isn't a shot he won't take that he hasn't made before. Kobe is a technician in the art of getting your shot off, no matter the place on the court or the number of defenders he WILL get his shot off. Kevin Durant led the league in scoring last year and people have tried to throw his name into this discussion, Durant is however easily dismissed from this conversation because of his youth. As much as I would like to answer this question I have to stay honest to myself, my choice is Dwayne Wade. D-Wade is ALWAYS omitted when this question is presented, I really don't understand how! Why is LeBron aloud to be in this conversation when he hasn't won A championship yet? LeBron does have 2 MVP's though, but Wade has one NBA FINALS MVP!! Doesn't that make him as eligible or even a better candidate than LeBron when compared to Kobe? I respect all 3 of these players, but my personal choice remains Dwayne Wade. Wade is virtually unguardable, he is one of the only people in the league TODAY whose focus intensifies when he's upset. I know a few of you are going to be upset with me, but when Kobe or LeBron gets upset it kind of takes them out of their game. I'm not talking about agitated, I'm talking about MAD or PISSED. Wade has a Jordan-esque way of taking his anger out on his opponent instead of just being angry. When Wade is in this zone, he is UNSTOPPABLE!! Now by no way am I saying that Kobe or LeBron don't have moments when they get hot or get into a zone, all I am saying is that they can't play MAD. If I were to go into all of my reasons for selecting him it would take quite a while, but I would like to ask you why Wade's name is always omitted??

The 49ers Future

The 49ers just fired their coach, next up time to find a GM. I am proud that the Owner finally realized that HE might have been a problem last time the team went through this process. In 2005 the 49ers went about hiring a staff backwards, all of this was done with out a GM. As many of you know teams can suffer when Owners take too much control, we have outstanding examples of ownership gone wrong in Dallas and Washington. The Cowboys and the Redskins both have owners who wont STAY out of the way of the people they HIRED, why not let the people do THEIR jobs?? I'm extremely happy that Mr. York has stumbled upon this revelation, the team will be better going forward. They are currently searching and interviewing GM candidates, my vote goes to Trent Balke who was in charge of personnel but not the GM. Balke pretty much ran last years draft, I think he did a very good job. What needs to happen next is for the GM to find a coach who can unlock all of the talent on this roster, the 49ers have many weapons on both offense and defense the key is to UTILIZE them correctly. The QB position and the secondary need to be addressed in the draft, specifically the cornerback position. The 49ers have a colection of talented safeties, they now need the playmakers at corner. There are good corners in this year's draft class, we will have a better idea once the college season comes to a close and we know which underclassmen are declaring. I strongly believe that Heisman winner Cam Newton will be available when the 49ers pick, I hope they realize what a talent he is and not let him pass in favor of another QB. The only QB I would pass on Cam Newton for is Andrew Luck and they won't be picking high enough to select Luck. Who do you think will become the next coach of the 49ers??

Christmas Day Double Standard...

Christmas Day ended sadly for the Lakers, what saddens me more is the free "OUT" they're being given. Had LA showed up and throttled the Heat everyone would be attacking Miami, since the Lakers got throttled people are saying it's early and it's only one game. If you want to belive that no problem, a true way to see if that was really the case is to look at Kobe Bryant's reaction. Kobe was PISSED, as the entire Laker's orginaztion and their fans SHOULD be. I don't buy all this we can "turn the switch" on when it's needed, I respect what the Lakers have done the past 2 seasons. Their problems this year are not things that can be fixed, they are OLD and SLOW. They can no longer beat teams the same way they have in the past, they need to be more like the Celtics and just "OUT EXCECUTE" teams!! Kobe is not getting any younger, yes he's still the best player in the game. The problem is that Miami has 2a and 2b, yesterday Kobe looked like he didn't have enough help. It didn't help matters that Wade was able to give him fits defensively which allowed LeBron and Chris Bosh to double when needed. The Heat ran a defensive CLINIC on the Lakers, they need to be given their credit for what they did. Maybe people don't want to say it out loud, but LA needs to hit the panic button!! They are now looking up at several teams in the standings and their record against winning teams isn't looking too good. I just don't understand why the Lakers are being giving a FREE pass, can someone explain that to me or at least TRY??

This is Punishment??

So 5 Ohio St. players got suspended for 5 games NEXT year, they are allowed to play in this year's Sugar Bowl though. They "broke" the rules, but where's the real punishment? I believe all 5 players are draft eligible, so if you were them would come back to serve the suspension or go to the NFL and get PAID?? College Football is a JOKE, it's like the NCAA wants to say they care about rules with the only exception being when money is involved. So they can make sure that both schools and the NCAA makes money from the Sugar Bowl the kids are allowed to play? If you KNOW they are draft eligible why give the players an out, the other option is only getting a chance to get PAID for what you do!! Secondly how can the NCAA decide what a player can do with what they win, last time I checked isn't it the player's property?? So if I understand this correctly a player cannot sell HIS own property, but the player's SCHOOL can?? Am I the only one that's lost here?? The NCAA should be ashamed of itself and once again it proves why there will NEVER be a playoff in college football, the rich want to keep getting RICHER!! Why wasn't the school punished in any way, not in this case or at Georgia when AJ Green allegedly sold his jersey?? Yet the school is allowed to AUCTION off any player's property, maybe it's just me but it almost seems as if the NCAA and the Schools OWN the players??

6 Player Deal goes down in MLB

This has been a big weekend in the sports world in terms of transactions, after the big NBA trades baseball didn't want to be left out. There was a 6 player deal done between the Royals and the Brewers, Zach Greinke was the headliner in this deal. The Brewers recieved Mr. Greinke and Yuneisky Betancourt. The Royals got Alciedes Escobar, Lorenzo Cain, Jake Odorizzi, and Jeremy Jeffress. It looks like the Brewers are trying to compete this year, they now have another ace in Greinke and hopefully they will be successful enough to keep Mr. Prince Fielder around. The Royals did a good job in what they got in return, landing Escobar and top pitching prospect Odorizzi. They had to get rid of Greinke, otherwise they would have faced a situation much like the Brewers will be facing with Prince Fielder. Let him walk, or get something for him in terms of a trade? Who do you think got the best of this trade? Will Greinke succeed in the National League??

Uconn Women Win their 88th Straight!!

The Uconn Huskies Women's Basketball team just won their 88th straight game, their 88th!! They have now tied the UCLA Men's record of 88 straight wins by the legendary Coach John Wooden. The Huskies won today's game in their usual fashion, via blowout. Uconn routed the 10th ranked Ohio State Buckeyes 81-50, Uconn Coach Geno Auriemma said the only reason people care about his record is because it's a women's team attempting to break a mens team record. I think Geno has a point, I mean would YOU care about this record if it wasn't John Wooden's?? Uconn gets a chance to break the record Tuesday night at home against Florida State, the Seminoles are the 14th ranked team in the country. If Uconn wins, this might be a record that will never be broken. Do you think the Huskies will break the record, and if so how much will they win by?? Do you think Geno has a point??

Orlando Making Moves

The Orlando Magic decided it was time to stop watching transactions happen in the league and partake in them! Orlando just traded Vince Carter, Micheal Pietrus, and Martin Gortat for Hedo Turkoglu, Earl Clark, and Jason Richardson. They are also to have been said to be in talks with the Wizards about trading Rashard Lewis for Gilbert Arenas straight up. I don't know what Orlando was thinking as of yet, maybe they think these new players will help them compete better with Boston and LA. I don't really see as to how, all they did was trade a couple shooters for another couple of shooters. They didn't get any tougher defensively and this may actually HURT Dwight Howard more than help him, now you have more gunners on the team. Secondly if they acquire Gilber Arenas does he play the 1 or the 2, if he plays the 2 do you move Richardson to the 3?? If so your starting lineup just became smarter? Only time will tell, but do you think this moves make Orlando better or just the same with new faces??

Where's Melo Going??

So as of today Carmelo Anthony says that he is NOT going to sign an extension with the Denver Nuggets. It has been said that Melo will only sign an extension with....THE NEW YORK KNICKS!! As a Knick fan, I can't contain my excitement! The problem is that it's up to the Nuggets whether to trade him or not. The positive part for Melo and maybe not so positive part for the Nuggets, Melo WILL be an Unrestricted Free Agent at the end of THIS season. So do you trade him or let him walk for nothing? The Knicks will go from a nice story with their level of play this year to a contender next year with the addition of Melo. Amare Stoudamire did say he was going to bring help, no one ever thought it would be this soon. If you were the Nuggets what do you do? As Carmelo Anthony, do you PUSH for the trade now or wait until Free Agency??

Newton Wins the Heisman...Suprised??

Cameron Newton won the prestigious Heisman Trophy earlier this evening, he did so in deciding fashion!! Newton was 1st on 93% of the ballots that had HIS name on them, there were 105 ballots that did not include his name. I'm not sure what to make of that, obviously I'm not privy to the Heisman Trust "rules" and I think that it's ridiculous that you have the option to omit a player's name. Cam had an outstanding year, one thing I didn't like about the Heisman show was how certain "hosts/analysts" did their best to remind everybody of Cam's issues. Obviously we all know what the allegations are, why can't you let it stay where it is for one night? It's not fair to the young man, I did like how Cam carried himself throughout the night. Do you think the right player won the award? Should it be mandatory for all finalists to be on EVERY ballot?? Who do you think will be the better NFL player out of tonight's finalists (Newton, Luck, James, & Moore)??

Week 14 College Football Recap

Week 13 NFL Recap

Fat Albert vs D.C.

So the Skins and Mr.Haynesworth are at it again, this time Albert will be suspended for the remainder of the season. I just don't understand why he's still here? If you didn't like the guy in pre-season, what made you think it was going to change Mr. Shannahan?? Mr. Snyder, you should just take it as a loss and cut him now because either way the man got PAID. So instead of just releasing him so he goes to a team of his liking, you'd rather keep him for the remainder of the season and then cut him??
Or do you really think a team is going to try to trade for him, because if that's the case you've already killed your leverage!! WE all know that neither he or you (the organization) wants him here, so why would someone trade for damaged goods?? The sad thing is that if you had traded him earlier in the year instead of trying to flex your Head Coaching muscles, you'd at least be looking forward to an additional draft pick. Now that doesn't look so promising, now the player got paid and is on the verge of getting what he wants in terms of being off this team. Which leaves the Redskins with nothing in return, was it worth it?? Keeping him here in D.C this season, was it worth it Mr. Snyder and Mr. Shannahan?? Will Haynesworth finish the season out as a Redskin or will they just cut him?? Do you think they will be able to get anything in return for him in a trade? Or will he just be rewarded by being cut after the season is over?

The NFL's Double Standard...

So obviously we are all aware of the NFL's new "safety" programs and "concerns," I don't really care for them but there are 2 players that have suffered from them. The 2 players I speak of are James Harrison of the Steelers and Michael Vick of the Eagles. Steelers outside LB James Harrison is one of the hardest hitters in the league, he has been fined excessively this year for hits that are "illegal." What bothers me about these so called "illegal" hits are that out of all of the fines only one of the hits has resulted in a yellow flag being thrown. He hasn't been ejected from any games, nor have the refs deemed these hits dirty or excessive roughness. All of these fines are levied AFTER games are played, so how is it that these "illegal" hits aren't being flagged WHEN they supposedly occur?? The NFL has given defenders a target zone for QB's, well Harrison makes sure that his hits are in set "target zone" and yet he still gets fined!! So what I take from this is that you can hit the QB, just not hard?? Or can you hit the QB if you're not James Harrsion?? Ben Rothelisburger got punched by Richard Seymour, Seymour got ejected and than fined but only a fraction of the price to which Harrison gets charged. Andre Johnson and Courtland Finnegan got into an actual FIST-FIGHT and all that happened was that both players got fined the same amount as Seymour: $25,000. Harrison has already been fined a total of $125,000 this season, there's a lot more football left!! What do you think of Harrison's issue with the fines, is it legit?? Do you view him as a dirty player, or is he being wrongly targeted??

Now this is one that I just can't understand, this is about a player who plays the position the League has gone out it's way to protect. Michael Vick has gotten hit below the supposed "target zone" all season, I have even heard a commentator say "that's what you have to do to Vick, make him pay for standing in the pocket!" REALLY....so how is that allowed when no one says that about the other marquee QB's in the league?? If you push Manning, Brady, Ryan, or Sanchez down without helping them up it's almost a guaranteed flag!! You can't go low on the QB PERIOD, why is it okay to hit Vick routinely in this fashion?? What makes him different than other QB's?? The worst part is that these illegal hits happen in the POCKET!!! We all know that Vick is a problem once he leaves the pocket, well when he's in the pocket how do you miss these foul hits (refs) ?? I just want to know why it's okay, he's the only elite QB that is ALLOWED to get hit like that. I've even heard analysts say that the best way to slow down Vick is "to hit him early and often", last time I checked wouldn't those other QB's be slowed if they were to get blasted the way Vick is allowed to get hit?? What do you think of Vick being allowed to get hit low as a QB?? Is there a different set of rules for MOBILE QBs??

The "Debacle".....

I cannot believe how much hype was placed on the Cleveland-Miami game last night, for the past 72 hours all that was on any site or sports channel was more talk about the "Return." Seriously??? We've made it through the "Decision," now we've made it through the "Return", and I am declaring the debacle that was last night's game the "Blowout!" I enjoyed every minute of last night's game, I have been enjoying this Cleveland-LeBron beef since free agency started. Everyone knew it was going to happen, who really thought he was going to stay in Cleveland?? Mr. James proved his point last night, his new teammates provided the kind of support that wasn't possible by his former teammates. What player wearing a Cavaliers uniform in the past 7 years was going to give LeBron 22 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 assists in 3 quarters of work as support to the cause?? He never had that kind of teammate, I'm not a LeBron fan nor do I have anything against the guy, but if you were him wouldn't you run out of Cleveland to go play with Dwayne Wade? Think about this for a moment, in last night's game the double teams were being run at Wade!! LeBron didn't get the double teams sent his way until Wade and Bosh were on the bench!! Speaking of Bosh, he isn't exactly Anderson Varajeao!! You can actually give Bosh the ball and let him work, that wasn't truly an option for LeBron during the 7 years in Cleveland. What post presence did they have, honestly the best one was Big Z and he left with LeBron!! The people of Cleveland should be ashamed of themselves, if you were really fans than yesterday shouldn't have been the only game that actually looked like it sold out!! Why wait to fill the building only 2 times a season, that's as many times as LeBron is going to be in the Q a year. For everything the kid gave you for 7 years, would it have been too much to at least not boo during the introductions?? How about even giving him some love or an ovation during the introductions for the good times that were shared with each other?? I had no problem with booing him after tip off, he's on the opposite team. I hope that what happened to the Cavs last night gave them some closure, or at least helped them to realize that there should be closure because LeBron isn't looking at the past. His new "family" supported him in throttling his former 'family" to the tune of 118-90, LeBron didn't miss out on anything he just shouldn't have declared his leaving in that terrible way ( the "Decision"). What did you all think about last night's game?? Is LeBron better off in Miami, or do you still think he could have won a chip in Cleveland had he stayed??
