Glimpse into the Future...

Last night was a GREAT night for the new wave of floor generals in the NBA, this class of playmakers might be the deepest and most talented in many years. Derek Rose showed why he is arguably the best point guard in the league by his performance last night, the home crowd even began to chant M-V-P!! Keep in mind we are only 2-3 games in this new season!! Rose rallied the Bulls last night at home against the Pistons, Rose's line: 39 points(13-27 from the field),6 boards, 7 dimes, 2 pilfers(steals), and 2 blocks!! Brandon Jennings didn't want to be left out in all of this playmakers of the future talk, Jennings recorded his first career triple double last night against the Bobcats! Jennings finished with 20 points, 10 boards, and 10 assists not to mention that his team also won. John Walls debut was overshadowed by the whipping the Magic gave the Wizards, Wall also didn't have that great of a game. Fast forward to last night and the outcome was the same, the Wizards lost but Wall showed us all the talent that made him the number 1 overall pick. Wall scorched the Hawks for 28 points, 5 boards and 9 dimes...Wall took the game over for the Wizards and if it wasn't for that pesky Joe Johnson the Wizards might have won. The Hawks won 99-95, last but not least Tyreke Evans of Sacramento. Tyreke Evans led his team to a victory over the Cavs last night, he didn't shoot particularly well but he contributed in other areas. Evans finished with 21 points, 7 rebounds, 6 dimes, and a steal!! What makes Evans so special is he is 6'6, 220 pounds playing the point. Keep in mind all of the guys mentioned here are the younger crop, we aren't even mentinoing the Rondos, Williamses, and Westbrooks of the league. Of this younger group of guards, who do you think will become the best in the NBA???

World Series Preview..

So it's official, we now know which 2 teams will be representing the AL and the NL in the World Series!! Question is, did you expect these 2?? Maybe the Rangers, but the Giants...seriously who amongst you all picked the Giants as an actual option when thinking about the World Series?? We all figured whoever won the Rangers-Yankees series was going to be facing the Phillies...right?? Thanks to Ryan Howard leaving his bat in it's holster on Saturday night on the decisive pitch of a full count the Giants are in the Fall Classic!! Imagine Game 1's pitching matchup....CLIFF LEE vs TIM LINCECUM!!! This is going to be a very competitive series because of the depth of arms on both rosters, both teams have good rotations with each having a truly special player (both mentioned above)!! The Rangers offense is explosive, but the Giants offense still manages to come through when needed. So who's it going to be, the Yankee killer aka Cliff Lee or Freaky Tim Jim(see Sportscenter Commercial) aka Tim Lincecum?? Rangers or Giants?? It starts this Wednesday at 7:57 pm....

ALCS & NLCS both tied...

Now that this weekend has passed, we have gotten to see 2 great series of baseball. Game 1 provided a historic comeback by the Yankees and one heck of a gem pitched by Tim Lincecum. In Game 2, both of the teams that were down a game bounced back and blasted their opponents. Game 3 in the ALCS is tonight featuring Cliff Lee vs Andy Pettite for a lead in this series. Game 3 in the NLCS has Cole Hamels vs Matt Cain in their decisive game. Who do you have winning the Game 3 match ups and who do you have coming out on top in each?? Will it be the Yanks vs the Phillies, or the Rangers vs Giants?? Tell me what you think.....

Curious Cut??

It is Week 5 in the NFL, why is Devin Thomas a former 2nd Round pick a free agent?? Thomas was released/cut earlier this week and there was nothing released in terms of an excuse. Did he do something wrong, he never really cracked the starting line up to even be labeled a bust. So why did the Redskins release a player so young, I think this will come back to haunt them. Many of you may not like Devin Thomas, but I don't believe in giving up on young players. You(Redskins) knew when you drafted him that he was unpolished, young, and a project. I understand Malcom Kelly not being there due to his high attendance on the Injury list, but Mr. Thomas was mostly healthy while he was here. He even produced when he got an "opportunity" to play, so I am really clueless as to why he was let go. At 6'2, 215 pounds Thomas will become a productive receiver in this league in my opinion. I just believe that the Redskins didn't want to take the time to educate the young man, maybe I'm wrong who knows? Tell me if you think I'm off my rocker and his being released doesn't matter. Or do you agree and think they acted prematurely in this case by lettering a player so young go so early??

(Early)NHL Update...

So the season kicked off Thursday night, one of the biggest things that have stood out to me today while I was looking at the standings.....Pitsburgh 0-2 and the Caps are 1-1. I know it's only 2 games in, but come on who expected both of these teams to start the season off like that. Dallas, Detroit, Carolina, and Toronto are all undefeated. Once again I am fully aware that it is only 2 games in, but I'm going to keep my eye on that as the season progresses. Should anything be made of the poor starts for both the Caps and Pens?? Or is it way too early to even be concerned??

MLB Playoff Update...

So the Yankees continued their string of dominance over the Minnesota Twins in Post-Season play by sweeping the Twins in 3 games. The Twins won the last two Game 1's the last 2 times they met in the playoffs, they have never won more than 1 game in either of those series. This time however, they were swept and didn't get the chance to steal Game 1. Last year the Yankees won the World Series on the backs, well arms of a strong 3 man pitching rotation. Last year it was Sabathia, Petite, and Burnett. This year Burnett was pushed out of the rotation and it was Sabathia, Pettite, and Phil Hughes. Hughes pitched the decisive game 3, and he made history as one of the 4 Yankee pitchers to pitch 7 scorless innings in a playoff start. Now for the Rays-Rangers series, Texas jumped out to a 2 game league by great pitching and silencing the big bats of the Rays lineup. In Games 3 and 4, the Rays bats came alive and they won both games. Game 5 has both team's aces pitching, it's Cliff Lee vs David Price part 2. It should be an exciting game. The Phillies are up 2-0 in their series and they play later on tonight for a chance to sweep the Reds. The Giants and Braves are tied 1 game a piece, the Giants won game 1 thanks to 1 run and Tim Linceum's outstanding performance. The Braves won Game 2 in extra innings thanks to Rich Ankiel's walk off home run! The Giants and Braves are playing right now!! It's the top of the 6th and the Giants are up 1-0, but if we learned anything from Game 2 it's that this game is far from over. Who do you think is going to advance and face the Yankees in the ALCS?? Will the Phillies complete the sweep, and who's going to win Game 3 in the Braves-Giants series to gain the advantage??

Which Moss is Minnesota getting??

I thought long and hard before this post, I have been asked about it a couple times already since the trade happened. I have finally come to a conclusion in my thought process, here it is. Minnesota is a good football team, adding Randy Moss makes it an even better football team. The problem Minny has is that their pass blocking is very, very, very suspect. Favre does need a big time WR right now, the supporting cast might be worse than the offensive line's pass blocking. This trade being a true success hangs squarely on the shoulders of Moss, are we going to see the young focused lively Moss or the current day depressed former superstar Moss?? I definitely wouldn't say Moss has lost a step, but he is one of the most mecurial personalities to have played this game. I always think of his quote when he was with the Raiders, " I play when I want to play." If he chooses to play the Vikings made a great move, if not they better hope that Sydney Rice gets back soon. Some of you might think the Patriots are crazy for letting him go, I think that the supporting cast in New England is 12 times better than the cast in Minnesota not named Rice or Moss. Secondly, the Pats did it on a BYE week so they get time to adjust the offense. Lastly, don't ever question Bill Bellicheck because he knows what he is doing. We might not see it when it first happens, but trust me he has everything covered. Back to Mr. Moss, is he going to make the Vikings Super Bowl contenders once again??

Complete Game Shutout or No Hitter???

So which was more impressive, the No-No that Holladay threw or Mr. Lincecum striking out 14 while going 9 innings?? I witnessed both games this week and I am in favor of Lincecum, let me explain. Holladay had 4 runs of support while Lincecum only had 1. He singlehandedly won the game other than the 1 run his team put up, and he didn't just win he dominated. Most of the strikeout pitches were really balls. Lincecum had all of the Braves batters fooled so bad they were willing to chase ANYTHING in hopes of making contact. The most impressive part to me was that he finished the game with a strikeout, and it was a 92 mph pitch!! How was he capable of having that much left in his tank for the last batter of the game?? So you tell me, which one was more impressive??

No Hitter!!

I am still shocked that Roy Holladay started the 2010 MLB Playoffs off with a No-No, actually utter disbelief would be more accurate!! Cliff Lee dominated the Rays and Mariano came through again for the Yankees in an exciting 1st night of the Playoffs! The two players I felt the most sorry for last night were David Price and Francisco Liriano, they both pitched good games against good teams with good bats. When your team's bats don't show up it just puts even more pressure on the pitcher, Price and Liriano deserved better last night. Both of their teams should be ashamed of themselves for putting their Aces out there to die without run support. The only series that didn't start last night was the Giants and Braves, I look forward to seeing how Tim Lincecum is going to perform and how rookie phenoms Buster Posey and Jason Heyward respond to the pressure of the playoffs!!! After last night's game, how do you feel about your teams chances??

Curtain goes up tonight!!

It is the start of another NHL season, last year the Blackhawks were the last team standing. Who will it be this year, will the Flyers represent the East in the Stanley Cup again?? Or will the Pens get back to their supposedly rightful spot in the Cup, or do the Caps finally realize their potential?? Do the Redwings rebound and remember who they are or will it be an up and coming team in the West that shows up in the battle for Lord Stanley's cup?? This is what makes October such a great month, MLB Playoffs, NBA Preseason, and NHL Reguar season all are going on at the same time. I don't forsee many good nights of sleep in my future, but I am willing to get over it!! What team has you the most excited to watch this season?? Do you think your team has what it takes to be playing for the Cup??
