Day 3 Combine Thoughts

Today is the day for the defensive front 7 guys to work out on the field. I am kind of taken back by the depth of talent in this draft. Everyone knows the big name guys, but do you realize there are several 300 pound plus guys scratching out high 4 second and low 5 second 40 yd dashes? Really this is crazy, I feel bad for any NFL team that gave away draft picks last year because this is the wrong year to do it. Seriously we're going to see nothing but offensive lineman and defensive players go in the first couple rounds. Outside of 3 or 4 wideouts and running backs, offensive skill players are going to be left on the board for a while. You might be able to get good running backs and wideouts in the 3rd and 4th round that may have gone in the 2nd or late 1st if it wasn't for this class of defensive players and offensive lineman. With so many teams switching to the 3-4 defense as their base defense in the past couple years, nose tackles and outside linebackers are at a premium. Not to mention the press coverage corners and athletic safeteys that are needed to execute this defense at a high level. There are a lot of Elvis Dumervil and Lemarr Woodley type hybrid defensive players in this draft, as well as the space eating nose tackles that many teams covet. I was going to wait until the end of this day at the combine to talk about it, but I can't contain my excitement. The Linebackers have yet to go today and the Secondary guys go tomorrow, I urge you all to take some time and look at the times these guys are putting up. It is scary and freaky that guys this size are so fast. I thought the offensive lineman were outstanding the other day, but with all these defensive guys running so fast it is even more important that teams get the type of offensive lineman needed to block these guys. Thats all for now, if anybody gets the time to check some of these times out let me know what you think about it? I'm still in awe..
